In 1971, Dr. Carr sold his practice in Hingham, Ma.
in order to purchased the property at 345 Court
Street which at that time contained only the
original hip roof Colonial & the el shown in the
sketch above. Dr Carr lived in the house and
converted the el into an animal hospital where he
practiced small animal medicine until 1983 when he
retired and sold the property & practice to Dr L. Over the next several years he developed
the property into a 20,000 SF medical & professional
office complex. To accommodate the rapidly growing
practice, the original animal hospital was finally
replaced in 1992 by the addition of a new 3750 SF
animal hospital on the north end of the complex
which was designed to be isolated from the rest of
the building. In 1998 new owners bought the practice
& equipment and leased the building with an option
to buy. As the new owners were promised, gross
receipts quickly climbed to over $1.5 million per
year. They showed their gratitude by promptly
building their own facility, abandoning the
building, and refusing to fulfill their legal
obligations under their contract & lease. The vacant
building required extensive cleaning & renovations
but is now restored and fully equipped for boarding
& grooming and partially re-equipped for a
veterinary practice. The facility successfully
reopened under the name of Plymouth, Boarding,
Grooming & Daycare but pet owners are demanding
veterinary services too. There is an unbelievable
demand for a good animal hospital that provides
boarding & grooming services and a motivated
veterinarian is all that is needed to make this
business boom again. |
